KDU’S Got Talent Season 3

Professional Accountancy Centre (PAC) Club returns again with one of the largest annual event, KDU’s Got Talent Season 3. Just like the previous years, the objective of organising this event is to provide a platform for the students to discover and showcase their hidden talents. However, this year, we also aim to give back to the community by raising funds and donating to a charitable organisation during the finals. The audition and finals were held on the 14th September 2018 (Friday) and 23rd September 2018 (Sunday) respectively. For the Finals, KDU’s Got Talent Season 3 collaborated with Refuge for the Refugees, an NGO with the noble goal of helping raise the standard of living for refugee kids. The Finals was presented in the form of a charity concert where ticket proceeds will be donated to the NGO. KDU’s Got Talent Season 3 is open to all KDU students and the participants are divided into two categories, Individual and Group.


This year, we were honoured to have invited well-known judges from the entertainment arts sector. The judges are Mr Howard Loke, Principal of Danspiration Studio, Mr Joel Tan, Founder of Urban Groove, Miss Kimberly S’ng, Malaysia’s Top Female Beatboxer & Lecturer of KDU Business School, Mr John Stephen, Programme Leader and Lecturer of School of Communication and Creative Arts at KDU University College.


Audition (14th September 2018)
The registration for participants started at 4:30pm and audition officially started at 6:20pm. Before the commencement of audition, a judges briefing was conducted by Miss Sophia Lee, Event Director of KDU’s Got Talent Season 3, in order to provide a clear understanding of of the judging system and programme flow. Besides that, a participant briefing was also conducted by our Emcee, Mr Lim Shaun Ming, to ensure that the participants are clear about the Rules & Regulations.


There was a total of 14 contestants during the audition and each of the contestants did their very best to make sure that they brought outstanding performance to the judges. After almost 3 hours of performances by the participants, the audition had finally come to an end and it was time to reveal the Top 8 participants who made it to the Finals. They were Adeline Chan, Elston Choong, Khaw Pei See, Lou Yoong Sheng, Nicholas Tiew, Melanie Ooi and Jasreena Mohd Rais from Individual Category & QUEENZ from Group Catergory.


After the announcement of Top 8 Finalists, a photography session was held to take a group picture of all the contestants and judges.

KGT S3 Finals x Charity Concert (23rd September 2018)
The event started with the grand entrance of our honourable VIPs. The scoring system for KDU’s Got Talent Season 3 Finals is 60% from the judges and 40% from the audience.


Once the VIPs have settled down, Mr Chan Tze Kang, Department Head of Professional Accountancy Centre and Ms Sophia Lee, Event Director of KDU’s Got Talent Season 3, gave an inspiring speech to welcome the audience.


The event was then proceeded with the Emcees inviting Mr Chan Tze Kang, Department Head of Professional Accountancy Centre, Ms Ashwini, Student Recruitment and Support Executive of Professional Accountancy Centre, Mr Lin, Representative from Refuge for the Refugees, Ms Sophia Lee, Event Director of KDU’s Got Talent Season 3 and Ms Amelia Lee, Deputy Director of KDU’S Got Talent Season 3 on stage to officiate the event.

There were also external performances brought to us by Absolute D Studio, Ms Kimberly, Mr Joel, Danspiration and Children from the Refuge for the Refugees in between performances by our Finalists.


After the performances by the Top 8 Finalists, the voting session for KDU’s Got Talent Season 3 Finals began. Mr Chan and the judges were invited up on stage to present the award to the Top 5 Finalists for the night. Melanie Ooi was crowned as the Champion, followed by X as the First Runner Up, Jas as the Second Runner Up, Nicholas as Third Runner Up and QUEENZ as Fourth Runner Up.

We would like to thank our honourable judges for their valuable time and support towards KDU’s Got Talent Season 3. We would also like to thank all the amazing performers who gave their all during the night to entertain the audience. Last but not least, we would like to express our uttermost gratitude to our generous sponsors and staff from both Professional Accountancy Centre and Student & Alumni Centre for their support and guidance throughout the whole event.
